Volunteer Opportunities

VolunteersAs a small (but powerful!) nonprofit, our success is fueled by our membership. It is from members such as yourself that we are able to cut costs, stay fiscally responsible, and provide a high level of services to the community for peace and justice work. How do you see yourself helping sustain the vision and mission of ICPJ?

PRIORITY: Volunteers needed for these upcoming events!

  1. Welfare Simulation - Friday, June 27th 12:40-4:00pm (need volunteers to act out roles of “staff” in simulation - contact gracek@gmail.com or call (734) 663-1870 for more info)
  2. CROP Walk 2008 -Volunteer to help organize the CROP Walk to raise money to end hunger locally and throughout the world. The actual event will take place on Sun., Oct. 12th. Join us at our next planning meeting (Tues 5/20, 7pm, Memorial Christian Church) or call (734) 663-1870 to find out how to get involved!

Please call in advance at 734-663-1870 to ensure we are still at the usual time and place.

  • Disarmament Taskforce - Meets every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at 11:45AM, at Memorial Christian Chuch (730 Tappan, Ann Arbor)
  • Globalization Taskforce - Meets the 1st Thursday of the month on a bi-monthly basis on even numberred months (February, April, June,…) at 10:00AM, at 1st Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor (1432 Washtenaw Avenue, Ann Arbor)
  • Hunger Taskforce - Meets irregularly depending on upcoming events (such as the CROP Walk). Call ICPJ at 734-663-1870 for more information
  • Latin America Taskforce - Meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30PM, at 1st Baptist of Ann Arbor (512 E. Huron, Ann Arbor)
  • Racial and Economic Justice Taskforce - Meets every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at Noon, at Memorial Christian Church (730 Tappan, Ann Arbor)

Volunteer Positions

  • Dinner & a Movie Coordinator - The Dinner & A Movie Coordinator is responsible for planning, managing, and implementing our monthly “Dinner & a Movie” program series. The Dinner & a Movie Series is designed to gather the local community together around a different social justice issue each month, share a meal, watch a film educating on the topic, and then collectively discuss action steps the community can take to work towards social justice on the given issue. The Dinner & a Movie Coordinator would be responsible for all aspects of this program series including logistical planning, program advertising, volunteer recruitment and management, and event facilitation. This position is a great way to be intimately involved with social justice education and mobilization, as well as to develop or polish skills in event programming.
  • Refreshment Volunteer - Bring / make food for events such as Dinner & a Movie Series, CROP Walk, etc…
  • Outreach Volunteer - Help strengthen ICPJ’s ties to the community by coordinating outreach efforts with congregations and community groups.
  • Office Volunteer - Database entry, filing, phone calls, hand stamping envelopes, writing thank you letters, etc…
  • Mailing Volunteer - Help with mailings for newsletters, fundraising mailings, and other mailings as they come up.
  • Newsletter Delivery Volunteer - Deliver ICPJ newsletters to places around town.
  • Publicity Volunteer - You can make sure that the word gets out about all the great events ICPJ organizes. including posting fliers and other related activities.
  • “Create Your Own Volunteer Position” - Share your idea with us! If we can find a way to make it work, then we will make it happen!
