Candle Light Vigil and Teach-In for Human Rights

Event Description

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 is International Human Rights Day. Demonstrations will be taking place across the world to promote human rights, and here in Ann Arbor/Washtenaw County, we’ll be doing our part!

Together, we will send an important message to the new Obama Administration: the United States must abide by the Universal Declaration for Human Rights and promote its standards throughout the world!

Join us for action and education: petition our government to ratify human rights conventions, sign a community letter to President-elect Obama, learn from human rights scholars and community leaders, and more…

EVENT DETAILS: Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Candle Light Vigil5pm – Main St. & Liberty (downtown Ann Arbor)
Stand up for human rights with fellow community members who believe in social justice. Sign our petitions to demand the U.S. ratify the Human Rights Conventions. Sign letters to our legislators. Be a part of a community gathering for the rights of all people.
Human Rights Teach-In7pm – Michigan Union, Anderson Room (UM Central Campus)
Local experts and activists will speak on various human rights issues and what we can do to promote human rights in the U.S. and abroad. Question/Answer and discussion time will follow speakers. Educate yourself to become a human rights advocate! Join us!
