Internship Positions

The Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice (ICPJ) is hiring for several internship positions. An internship with ICPJ is a great way to gain organizing experience, build your resume, and learn important skills in non-profit management. All internship positions are unpaid, allow for flexible scheduling, and require a commitment of at least 6 hours per week, up to 30 hours. All internships may involve some general administrative support tasks.

1. PROGRAM INTERN: Work with one of ICPJ’s six programs; help organize volunteers, do outreach and publicity for events and campaigns, create and compile resources and materials, and more. When applying, please express your preference for one of the following programs:

  • Hunger Task Force: hosts the annual CROP Hunger Walk to raise funds and awareness for local and international hunger relief programs, as well as to work with congregations and community groups in educational programs about the causes of hunger, support congregations involved in the “Faith and Food” effort to establish congregational gardens.
  • Racial and Economic Justice: educates community on issues of race, class, and economics through programs like the Welfare Simulation, Racial Justice Book Group, and coalitions such as the Campaign for Justice (reform of the public defender system); organizes for action on racial and economic justice issues such as health inequalities by race and income, access to transportation, etc.
  • NO Weapons, NO War (NOW): engages people of faith to explore and work for peaceful solutions in Iraq and Afghanistan, promote nuclear disarmament, and to shift U.S. spending from the military to healthcare and education. Projects include film showings, discussions, and lobbying efforts.
  • Latin America Task Force: organizes students, people of faith, and the wider community to promote human rights and economic justice in Latin America; organizes a community trip to Georgia to protest the School of the Americas’ (WHINSEC’s) human rights abuses each November.
  • Climate Change and Earth Care: helps congregations and individuals care for the natural world and address the climate crisis by promoting lifestyle change, congregational action, and sound public policy.

2. MEMBERSHIP INTERN: Help ICPJ connect with and involve our members in work for social justice. The membership coordinator will:

  • Work with staff and volunteers to ensure that we track donations, sign-ups, and participation in events;
  • Follow up with people who express interest in getting more involved in ICPJ;
  • Coordinate mailings and other efforts to invite people who sign up with ICPJ to become members;
  • Identify lapsed members and work with staff to renew their memberships.
