Community Vigil for Peace in Gaza
When: Thursday, 1/8/09, 6PM
Where: Corner of Liberty and Main Street, Ann Arbor, MI
Candles provided. Please bring signs that support a peaceful end to the conflict in Gaza.
How you can help:
- Download the flier and post it at your work, your school, your favorite coffee shop, or wherever you like. Or, better yet, contact Michigan Peaceworks to get a stack of fliers to hang around town.
- Tell your friends! Invite them to come out and join us;

Statement on the crisis
In the midst of this crisis, Michigan Peaceworks and Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice issue the following statement:
- We mourn all death and deeply want the violence to stop for the sake of the residents of Gaza, Israel, and the world
- We call for an immediate ceasefire, and we encourage our government to press for a ceasefire and a resolution to the conflict
- The only way out of this violence is through a negotiated settlement to the conflict, we call on our government to be a active and honest
broker to promote a just and durable peace agreement - Israel must allow humanitarian aid into Gaza
- We call for international journalists to be allowed into Gaza
- We urge the U.S. to support European Union and other International initiatives to create peace in the entire Middle East
