Host a peace meal

Planning a peacemeal is easyGood food, good company, and a good cause! If you enjoy spending time with friends, like to cook, and support ICPJ’s work, this opportunity is perfect for you. An ICPJ Peace Meal House Party is a fun and effective way to support the mission and continued efforts of the Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice.

A complete Peace Meal House Party Organizing Guide is available for your use. Download the guide today and start planning your Peace Meal.

WHY? The Interfaith Council for Peace and Justice is a membership organization. This means we don’t have huge corporate sponsors or government grants funding our work. We are dependent on people like you who believe in what we do to exist as an organization. You, our members, enable us to continue in our work, uniting people of faith and conscience to promote peace and justice. Your commitment to ICPJ demonstrates your passion for our work, and we hope that you will share that passion with your friends and neighbors. By hosting a Peace Meal, you are spreading ICPJ’s message of hope and sustaining ICPJ’s actions for peace.

Hosting a Peace Meal House Party is just like hosting any other dinner party at your home. There are just a few particular points to remember:

Be sure to share the purpose of your party with your guests in your invitation. (Let your guests know you’re hosting a party to support ICPJ and that you’ll be requesting donations.)

Schedule a few moments to address all of your guests together to do the following:

o provide information on the work of ICPJ;

o share why ICPJ is important to you;

o ask for a thoughtful donation from each of your guests.

Don’t be embarrassed to ask for money. Remember that ICPJ would not exist without the financial support of people who believe in our work. Be proud to be an integral part of this movement for peace!

We would be happy to provide an ICPJ staff person, steering committee member, or volunteer to join you for your Peace Meal. This person can help you to explain ICPJ’s mission and work. She/he can also support you in the task of asking your guests for donations.
