Public Official’s Forum about the Prisoner ReEntry Program

The success of this program depends on both adequate funding and the continued partnership of a wide variety of governmental bodies, social service agencies, and community partners. This forum will provide an opportunity talk about how government officials from our area can help ensure its success.

We are asking you to attend as a supporter of the MPRI program. Our elected officials need to see that there is a broad base of community interest and support for the MPRI! Thank you.

When: Monday March 26th
5:30pm – Introduction to the MPRI program
6-7:30pm – Public Officials Forum

Where: First Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 4001 Ann Arbor Saline Rd.

What: The Washtenaw County MPRI Advisory Council would like to invite public officials from throughout Washtenaw County to a forum on the MPRI program. The forum will address challenges we are facing on the county and state levels and how we all can work to ensure the success of this program.

If successful, the Michigan Prisoner ReEntry Program will help our County in a number of vital ways including:

1) More people coming out of prison will successfully re-integrate back into our community.

2) The burden on our local social service agencies will be reduced as this population has been one of the most challenging to serve.

3) Our local law enforcement officials will know who is returning to the community and who is participating in the re-entry program

4) Crimes committed by those being released from prison will be reduced.

5) Jail overcrowding will be reduced as fewer people recycle back into the corrections system.

6) Expenditures for arresting, prosecuting and incarcerating people from Washtenaw County will be reduced.
