As part of our by-law review for our upcoming Membership Meeting, we’ve had a lawyer go through our by-laws to propose the proper changes.
He’s come through with a comprehensive set of re-stated by-laws (pdf) that we’ll go through at the membership meeting. Some of the changes are legal housekeeping — updating the language so that it is precise and some of the changes are the policy changes recommended by the Board (especially regarding membership and outreach).
Our lawyer did not incorporate all of the proposed changes in the Steering Committee Structure and Process recommendations. For example, he strongly recommended single-person membership rather than family membership and he recommended against writing a cap the number of board members into the by-laws.
So please come out on Thursday, September 28 at First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor at 7:00 p.m. for the ICPJ Membership Meeting where we will review these proposed changes.
If you have additional or alternative by-law amendments to propose, please email them to info@icpj.net by Monday, September 25.
If you wish to discuss the proposed by-law changes, please post your comments here, with the announcement of the membership meeting. That’s also the location to read more about our original by-laws and the structure & process review.
Also, Bill Thomson has offered his own amendments to the re-stated by-laws.
